1914 – Education in Yelm

J. B. Fleenor of Cheney will be principal of the local school and superintendent of the consolidated district, when the schools open Monday, August 31, with Miss Vera Chambers in charge of intermediate department and Miss Berges of Tacoma the primary.  Miss Uhler of Olympia will have charge of the lower grades at the Forest School.  The principal of the latter school has not bee chosen, and an additional teacher will have to be employed if the board, as hoped, provides all four high school grades in the local school

Because the postal regulations prohibit his holding such a position, D. R. Hughes has been compelled to resign from the Board of Directors of Consolidated District 301, of which he was clerk, ending a long period of active and efficient service.
