Washington Recorder December 1, 1902
Yelm, Nov. 29 – A number of young people went from Yelm to attend the dance at Roy last Wednesday evening. Among those were Misses Christianson, McKenzie, Clara McKenzie, Pearl McKenzie, Neo Conine and Messrs A. N. Christianson, J. Christianson, Warner Betschart, J. W. Melvin, A. Card of Sherlock, Geo McKenzie, Roy McKenzie, C. G. Longmire and J. W. Sumpter.
Miss Trenholme, Miss Van Trump and Mr. Lorin Chambers of Seattle arrived on the Northern Pacific trin this evening. Miss Trenholme will remain fir a week with her cousins Messrs. And Miss Christianson. Miss Van Trump will spend tomorrow with her parents and return in the evening.
The people of Yelm were much surprised to learn through the Ledger of supposed suicide of Jacob Erb, a farmer near this place. It seems strange that an inquest was thought unnecessary. The fact that he was found dying with poison beside him is not conclusive evidence that is had been self -administered. And it was believed that he had as much as $50 with him and none was found on his body, it seems stranger still
