Xmas Wishes Sent from the Jungles of New Guinea

Nisqually Valley News   December 10, 1942

A Christmas card has been received from Pvt. Clyde Leonard in New Guinea.  The card reads, “Hi Folks!  My warmest greetings and a Happy New Year from New Guinea.  The sketch on the card shows a very plump soldier with the sweat rolling down off his forehead and the thermometer breaking out at the top, with the sea and a palm tree in the distance.  Usually these kind of s the scenes show a few lady head hunter standing around in the gentle breezes, but apparently the women and children had all left.
