1964 – Indian Rights

To the Editor: My congratulations to Bruce Willkie and Marlon Brando, handsome Indians. I hope all the Indians throughout this state of Washington will win their fight against the injustice done to them. As I have been saying all along the Indian treaty of 1864 must be kept. Treaties are never outlawed. There is a lot to be said for the Indian men of this nation. For one thing they can be trusted, and for another, they don’t break promises. The officials of our government would do well if they cleaned up the corruption in the Congress, the Senate and the upper echelons. The only way to expose corruption is to destroy the corruption in all phases of out American government and leave the Indians alone. Let them fish in all accustomed waters. It’s their livelihood.
